Ohio sports betting is going micro.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission has granted conditional approval to Betr to serve as an online sports betting management provider for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village. Touted as the first direct-to-consumer micro-betting sports betting platform in the world, Betr will launch its online sports betting service in the Buckeye State on Jan. 1, 2023 as part of the state’s official sports betting launch.

Ohio Micro-Betting on the Way
Jake Paul is serving as founder and president of Betr in partnership with founder and CEO Joey Levy.
Levy is best known as the founder of Simplebet, a B2B sports betting technology company that focuses on simplifying the live betting experience.
This is Betr’s first sports betting license. Betr’s sports betting app will focus solely on micro-betting, a type of wagering that only deals with play-by-play events as opposed to outcome wagering. Betr will only serve as the Hall of Fame Village’s online sports betting provider as Rush Street Interactive will handle the entity’s retail sports betting side.
Paul and Levy announced $50 million in series A funding earlier in the year. Betr closed a $30 million Series A led by Florida Funders in what was the largest investment in Florida Funders history, according to a press release. The Series A was oversubscribed, so the company raised an additional $20M Series A1 led by Aliya Capital Partners and Fuel Venture Capital.
While the Betr app will focus solely on sports betting, the company also focuses on sports media, as Paul currently hosts a weekly sports show called BS w/ Jake Paul.
Jake Paul Prepares for Ohio Sports Betting Homecoming
Born in Cleveland and raised in Westlake, Jake Paul is an Ohio native through and through. Fresh off a boxing victory over UFC legend Anderson Silva in October, Paul has always been proud of his Ohio roots and it should come as no surprise the 25-year-old has deep interest in the Buckeye State’s sports betting market.
During his fight with Silva, Paul and his team worked hard to push the Betr brand and they served as one of the sponsors for the event. A Betr bot was even built and deployed at the event to build additional hype around the micro-betting brand.

It remains to be seen how aggressively Betr will look to tackle the sports betting industry at large but, at least for now, Paul has certainly made his intentions in his native Ohio loud and clear.
