March Madness Odds Movement Timeline

  • April 2, 2022: Kansas has opened as a -183 favorite (on average) over UNC in the national championship game. Kansas’ moneyline odds range from -190 to -180. UNC is between +155 and +145.
  • Mar. 27, 2022: With the Final Four set, Duke (+158) and Kansas (+183) are sizable favorites over Villanova (+450) and UNC (+500). Stay tuned to see if the early betting  shifts the lines before next Saturday’s semifinal games.
  • Mar. 26, 2022: After advancing to the Final Four, Duke (+175) is now the favorite. If Kansas moves on tomorrow, the Jayhawks will likely retake that mantle.
  • Mar. 25, 2022: Saint Peter’s made history by becoming the first #15 seed in the Elite Eight; their title odds are still worst among the teams remaining but shortened from +30000 to +5250.
  • Mar. 24, 2022: After beating top-seed Gonzaga, Arkansas has improved to +1000. Houston also made a big jump after beating South Region #1 Arizona; the Cougars are now +375 co-favorites with Kansas.
  • Mar. 20, 2022: #5 Houston make big gains (+2000 to +1100) after dispatching #4 Illinois with relative ease  (68-53). But Gonzaga, Kansas, and Arizona remain the firm top-three favorites.
  • Mar. 19, 2022: #15-seed Saint Peter’s is onto the Sweet 16 after dispatching Murray State. Their title odds improved from +32500 to +15000.
  • Mar 18, 2022: Ohio State made a big leap from +25000 to +10000 after knocking off perennial Cinderella Loyola Chicago.
  • Mar. 17, 2022: Several East Region teams got shorter thanks to Kentucky getting bounced, including #1 Baylor (+1200 to +1025) and #3 Purdue (+2150 to +1450), which didn’t even play yet.
  • Mar. 16, 2022: Notre Dame improved from +50000 to +25000 advancing past Rutgers in the First Four (89-87 2OT).
  • Mar. 13, 2022: With Selection Sunday in the books, the field has been trimmed to 68. Gonzaga (+300) remains head-and-shoulders ahead of second-favorite Arizona (+625).
  • Mar. 8, 2022: A few new teams are on the board after winning their conference tournaments: South Dakota State, Longwood, Georgia State. All three are at +50000.
  • Mar. 1, 2022: Baylor improved from +1650 to +1250 after wins over Kansas and Texas, two legit contenders themselves. Arkansas also got a nice boost from +7500 to +5750.
  • Feb. 23, 2022: #1 Gonzaga (+390) is nearly twice as short as any other team; second-favorite Kentucky has seen its odds improve two-fold over the past couple weeks (from +1300 to +750).
  • Jan. 31, 2022: Now riding a 17-game win streak, Auburn’s title odds are in the top five (+1250), while SEC-rival Kentucky also improved (from +2000 to +1300).
  • Jan. 17, 2022: Winners of 13 straight, Auburn improved from +3500 to +1750 and is knocking on the door of the top five. The top-five favorites remained unchanged, though: Gonzaga, Duke, Purdue, Baylor, and Kansas (in that order).
  • Jan. 3, 2022: Top-ranked Baylor has seen the biggest gains over the last couple weeks, improving from _1800 to +1100. Favorite Gonzaga faded from +475 to +650 as little seems to separate the tier-one teams.
  • Dec. 9, 2021: Top-ranked Purdue (+750) is closing the gap on Gonzaga (+475) at the top of the board.
  • Nov. 23, 2021:Team on the rise include Gonzaga (+625 to +592), UCLA (+1250 to +1100), Purdue (+1350 to +1100), and Duke (+1300 to +1167). • Nov. 10, 2021: After impressive opening-night wins over Michigan State and Kentucky, respectively, Kansas (+1450 to +1350) and Duke (+1500 to +1400) both saw their odds improve

  • Aug. 2, 2021: The biggest movement in the preseason is by Texas, which has surged all the way from +4000 to +1500, thanks Chris Beard replacing Shaka Smart as head coach.
  • Apr. 6th, 2021: Last season’s runner up Gonzaga has opened as a +900 favorite, followed by Michigan at +1050 on average and UCLA as +1250.
